So I was really looking forward to this weekend, however I have been pretty much off work since Wednesday because of the weather, now Saturday I am going stir crazy and dying to get back to dog walking. Wednesday some clients cancelled and I did toilet visits and shorter walks for the remaining, Thursday all my clients cancelled on me, and Friday the same, why ? Because had the worse snow blizzards I have ever seen, all major roads were closed and only idiots went out and tried to drive their cars about. We have only managed short walk with Scrappy more its to cold for him there has been really strong wind and its so cold its all to with Siberian weather. Its now March and I think this winter I have had more snowdays then I care to remember, really want to get back to work and back to my clients. Thursday I was actually following police advice not to drive, nearly all my dog walking friends locally and up and down the country shut up shop, a dog walker I don’t rate went against police advice on Thursday to see to her clients, again demonstrating a poor lack in judgement. When the police tell me not to drive I tend to listen, not that I could drive anywhere, my entire street was blocked by 4 ft snow drift on the road!
Work has been amazing for 2018, I am considering taking on a assistant to train them Little Happy Hounds style to be a dog walker, its just so scary for me to trust anyone, so I am writing up the necessary paper work for that, because now has a business I really can’t say yes to anymore dog walking clients, puppy visit also, we just started looking after 10 week old Ralph, so I am squeezing his puppy visits in-between walks, once Ralph goes onto walks I already have another puppy lined up to take his place, a cockapoo starting with us after the Easter Break. So I am now working up to the Good Friday and taking a week off, which actually is only four days I am taking off as I would be closed anyway for Good Friday and Bank Holiday Monday,i have took a week of dog walking but I am around for cat sitting, the reason I do that is with schools taking different times off over in the High Peak all my quiet walks get busier for three weeks, over Easter so its good for me t take a week out from the crowds, as its not easy managing groups of dogs with hysterical kids, screaming at the sight of them, can live without the drama.
So far we have a cat sitting booking before the week before Easter take us to Easter Monday. As I done want any last minute bookings for that week it looks like I might be off work properly doing the touristy hiking thing around Derbyshire Dales. So we took on five new clients in last few months, Pippa, Coal, Ozzie and Ralph, all puppies, and Monty a seven year cocker spaniel, and on top of all of that Mario a client of mine since 2015 came back full time. Pippa is a westie, Coal, Labradoodle, Ralph a Lhasa apso and Ozzie is a Norfolk Terrier, and they are based in, no partilcuar order, Hayfield, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Chinley, Whaley Bridge. Which are all places Little Happy Hounds covers for dog walking, cat sitting and puppy visits services. Mario is a sensitive soul, jet black cockerspaniel, its been decided he is not really suited on the lunch time walk anymore, I have younger clients on their these days and its a larger walking group, which I feel Mario is not keen on, his owners agree with me and rather than loose me they have agreed for him to go onto the last walk, three days of week its groups of three four if my dog comes Tuesday and Thursdays its just Mario. The reason being last year I requested time off as he started sulking on walks, refusing to walk, on occasion wondering off, I kept trying as I love the dog and I love them as clients, however it got worse so we took a break, he’s come back last few weeks and so far things are much much better, some would say he is a Diva I just think he’s a sensitive soul, very special dog to me anyway. All in all 2018 has been a very good month for me, and very kind to little happy hounds, I feel very blessed, very lucky to have so many new lovely clients as well as all my long term ones, that. have helped make February a amazing success..
