Dog friendly walks and places too go in New Mills, High Peak.
We highly recommend a visit too New Mills, I know a lot of people come to Hayfield on holiday with their dogs, so its worth mentioning a few dog friendly places, and walks, if any businesses are reading this and want too be mentioned below contact me.
The Peak Forest Canal & Goytside meadows,
back in 2005 we bought a very sweet little terraced house in New Mills and the big selling point was its close proximity to the canal and the Goytside Meadows. Starting at the very top of Woodside Street New Mills, off Albion Road, there are some steps that take you onto the towpath, opposite is New Mills Marina, if your turn right you can walk too Disley and Marple, and if you turn lefty can head towards Whaley Bridge and the Bugsworth Basin in Buxworth, great for cycling and dog walking. After the steps if you turn left and head towards Whaley after about 300 yards the canal turns big corner, ignore the first the gate for the Goytside Meadows and carry on for another 100 yards and you will get some really nice views looking over New Mills and over too Beard Farm off Marsh Lane, carry on to the next gate and you can get into the Goytside Meadows. There are sometimes cows in the fields so dogs on leads when there is !
The Sett Valley Trail, New Mills to Hayfield, Derbyshire
starting point at Thornsett, disused railway line turned into a 3 mile bridal way, great for dog walking but not a huge group of dogs as its also used by cyclists, horse riders, gets very busy at weekends. AS a dog walker, in the professional sense I prefer this walk in my leisure time, with just the one doggy.
Mousley Bottom, Hague Bar Meadows,
Starting from the Torrs in New Mills, the deep caesium in the town that follows the Sett River which then becomes the Goyt River, over the Millennium Bridge, you eventually enter, Mousley Bottom, Martins wood, and then Hague Bar Meadow, no live stock, so good opportunity to exercise dogs off lead.
dog friendly pubs.
