Taking some much needed time off over Easter, we just got back from a little holiday four days in the lakes then last weekend I had some of my family staying over, including my brothers dog Ralphy a Lhasapoo, so we took them all for a walk around Errwood Hall followed by a trip to Buxton and some lunch in the Buxton Tap House, which happens to be dog friendly the food was really good. On sunday i was really keen to show my brother and his dog the very dog friendly Fernilee Reservoir, Goyt Valley. Family visit over on Monday we headed to Loweswater in the lakes, which was fine we did a lot of walking with my dog scrappy, I was not impressed with the nearest pub in miles not allowing dogs in 6 pm till 10 pm, never had this kind of dog-phobia before in the lakes so it was a bit of a surprise! I understand some places need separate dining but we had a look inside and this place was huge could of easily had a dog bit sectioned off, we had been before it was summer so we were in the beer garden, never again, we are suppose to be on a dog friendly family holiday and besides we are not permitted to leave the dog unattended in the rental cottage! For extra dog friendliness and many dog friendly pubs i always recommend Eskdale Green and Eskdale Valley my favourite part of the lakes, we have had that many holidays in Eskdale they have al fused into one memory, and a very long time ago and albeit briefly i once lived there, thats a story for another post on another blog!
The cottage was fine, minus the claim to be dog friendly and there being no garden gate, same company own a bigger cottage in the same compound which did have a enclosed garden , constructive criticism is on its way. So we ended our little holiday with a mammoth walk in the beautiful Ennerdale Valley, we climbed up a fell called Red Pike wondered around the woods and spent most of good friday in Ennerdale before heading home, I recommend Ennerdale water for a dog holiday day out in the lakes, it sheep free, massive big man made reservoir with woodland, hills, we have once previously walks around the reservoir which was long and boring the walk we did this time around was amazing impressive views see below.
I now have easter weekend off, I am cat feeding Eustace, the siamese cat, from bank holiday Monday, the week starts out very busy for me with cat sitting and dog walking clients and we after I am little bit quieter due to the easter break going on for two weeks.
My last working day two fridays ago the day my family came up i was asked to walk Betty, my new puppy client very late in the day ! I of course said yes ! It mean i was able to bring Betty home to meet all my family and we took her and my dog and my brothers dog up Taxal Edge, once home I was suppose to drop her at 6 pm, however i knew what time owners were in and all my family were keen for me to keep hold of her so i texted her owners and they agreed it was fine so we kept Betty longer dropping her at 7:30pm, bless, she was so brave house full of strangers she was not phased at all, ran about her usual adorable self before crashing on the sofa, I can’t wait to get back to work to walk her as she came on board just before my holiday so we are still bonding and i am still working on recall and things so she comes back to me.
