With dog walking clients in Birch Vale, New Mills and Hayfield, I tend to frequent the woods behind the campsite in Hayfield, the sett valley trail especially thornsett to Hayfield is always so busy, so muddy and full of reactive dogs on leads, not the kind of place as a dog walker, I like to walk my hounds.
So we often got to Hayfield and climb very high up in the wood, so we are not on the bridal way, trying to avoid bikes, horses, other people if we can help it, and there is a path at the top and eventually you get to this amazing clearing with superb views of Kinder Scout, its also very varied terrain for the dogs we start off and end the walk with the lovely river sett, so plenty time to for a doggie paddle, then we spend time in the woods, great shade on extra hot days and in the clearing its grassy and breezy as we are high up !!
